Plot 

The plot revolves around Nick Carraway, who moved to New York in the spring of 1922. Engaged in lending operations in a small company he begins his story recollection of how rented a house in West Egg, Long Island, where, in contrast to East Egg, lived not noble, but no less rich. He settled next to the rich, mysterious man named Jay Gatsby. Almost every night he has a party, comes the sea and uninvited dinner guests, rich and poor, Jay glad to welcome them. So Nick meets him at a party, immediately liked this Gatsby. So Nick is drawn into the exciting world of the rich - they are illusions, love and lies. He becomes a witness to what is happening in this world and writes a story of impossible love, eternal dreams and the human tragedy that is a reflection of contemporary manners.

Direction and my opinion 

As I have read this book, it was very interesting for me to watch this film. The film is able to show us almost everything that showed a novel. Terrible society of the time, who likes to "relax" with a bottle of suffering of the lower classes, some characters, black life, hiding between the "lines" of the film, hiding in the idle costumes, music and fun. The whole basis as books, so, naturally, the film focuses in society: his vices, his dishonesty, his immorality, in the end, his indifference, selfishness and other things like that. All this the director shows in bright colors that contrast mutilated faces, their behavior, so that the audience could see too much of this "beauty." But why I was so interested in and read, and see "The Great Gatsby" - the answer is simple: the society for almost one hundred years has not changed - and that's scary! Nobody don't want anyone, everybody lies, running away from responsibility, drink, do not reciprocate the feelings of another person. But it is, perhaps, a tragedy, denouncing the fact that many are afraid to confront, to tell about it - TRUTH! It seems that he and the person we love, respect, and will not be forgotten after his death, but sometimes it is so that you do not want anyone to have, even during his lifetime, wearing a mask of self-confidence, taking the false love of others.

Acting is the strongest film side. DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire, and Carey Mulligan - direct hit to the image. Some criticized the game Tobey Maguire, but I love his Nick, believed his hero, and he accurately reflected the lack of confidence and interest in, and experience, and participation. About DiCaprio can say only one thing - it is not the most interesting part, but very chic. Best Gatsby by DiCaprio! Separately want to mention the incredible beauty of costume characters, and the film itself, which is simply dazzling brightness,great camera work.

And in conclusion I want to say that «The Great Gatsby» - is a strong, filled with deep meaning and philosophy (sometimes hiding), film that is worth seeing for many, especially those who prefer something a "take away" from them after viewing, but not look and forget. As for me, it is a successful adaptation, but not without its flaws.
