Great Gatsby

Chapter 1-2

The narrator, Nick Carraway came from a prominent Midwestern family and graduated from Yale. Nick fought in World War I; after the war, he went through a period of restlessness. He eventually decided to go to New York in order to learn the bond business.  Then he had just arrived in New York. His neighbor was a man named Gatsby
One day, the man attended a dinner party; this event was given by Tom Buchanan and his wife, Daisy. Daisy was Nick's cousin, while Tom was Nick's classmate at Yale. Jordan Baker, who was Daisy’s friend, was also being here.
When Tom suddenly left to take a phone call, Nick learned from Jordan Baker, that Tom's phone call was from his lover in New York. After his awkward visit with the Buchanans, Carraway went home. There, he saw a handsome young man, Jay Gatsby.
Tom Buchanan took Nick to George Wilson's garage. Wilson's wife, Myrtle, was the woman with whom Tom has been having an affair. Tom made both Myrtle and Nick to accompany him to the city. There they had a vulgar party with Myrtle's sister, Catherine, and a repulsive couple named McKee. The group gossiped about Jay Gatsby. The people became extremely drunk. As a result, Myrtle began to grow garrulous and harsh. Shortly after Tom gave her a puppy as a gift, Myrtle began chanting Daisy's name annoyed Tom. Tom didn’t like it but she continued teasing him, and he responded by breaking Myrtle's nose.
